4-This painting is lovely. The artist has captured the past and the present look of a very confident woman. The face reminds me of a woman of the 1920's to 30's era. Very thin eyebrows extremely red lips and slender body form. Today that is reflected in many of the makeup applications and makeup artist I see in my industry. "EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN" I love the colors and find a sense of peace and tranquility with with painting. I feel the artist has captured many aspects of the woman she has painted.

Mintsauce

Woman with green pointed hood by Raffaella Matera

7-The clean and crisp face, the slanted eyes, the distant, aloof, enigmatic, impavid look, remind us of the early Byzantine Madonna’s. The hood accentuates this sense, in spite of the wild strands of hair on the forehead, which seem so out of character, and an artist's ill-fated afterthought. There is a strong emotional component to which we respond spontaneously. We are moved and stirred. The artist has succeeded in touching us, and interacts with us, through her creation. It is sufficiently rare, to be applauded.

expressive style of painting. The images appear to reverberate with color,

  • Raffaella, after your explanation I was able to understand why you gave more importance to the sky than to the rest of the painting in "Ancient Village." I believe that is more important expression than technique. However, in "The wide awake dawn" like in "Verso il mare" which I like very much (why do not submit this painting to this corner?) you keep the same concept in all the surface of the canvas, everything is harmonious: color, composition, brush stroke. I would love to see you express yourself using a different color scheme for a change - and trying on some new brush strokes. You have this color scheme and this particular style/stroke etc. down - no doubt about it - but I grow weary of seeing the same style repeat itself, even & especially in myself !! I think we all do it sometimes, we get excited about a style we feel connected to - and we run with it, sometimes way too far - then our work starts to become...."soul-less" in a way -all style & technique. Interesting "Ethic Future" by Raffaella Matera

Nice and interesting work.
The question proposed here approaches one of the main problems in today world: Where is ethics going? The subject is dealt in a very efficacious manner. The choice of colours, blue for the whirling background and pink for the allegoric figure standing for ethics, give the definitive mood by which the author approaches the decline of ethical values in our contemporary society. Everything appears to have lost direction. Pain is on Ethics’s face.
ALIENATION is the cry Raffaella Matera moves in this work. Is this the future we are facing? Livio B.
